I want to turn my two story family room into two rooms. Has anyone used blue sky for this type of work? Or for any work in general? If so, what feedback do you have?
I'd check them out thoroughly. I had them remove trees a long time ago and it was a disaster (ruined my yard), and they used my stone work in their promotional material photos when they did not do the work. I actually asked them about it when they were at a landscaping show and they said they were just showing how it can look and they weren't claiming they actually did the work. They may have changed ownership, but I would be sure they actually did the work.
I have not used them personally, but when i asked a friend of mine about them last year he said to stay away. Again, maybe they have changed ownership/managment, but i would do lots of research beforehand.
I seem to remember them spamming this forum awhile back too. So if that's any indication of their business tactics, I'd take some of the positive online reviews of them you might see with a grain of salt. Just one example: Out of their most recent six reviews (all glowing) on Citysearch, four of the reviewers list their locations as being in California, while a fifth lists Western New York. The sixth reviewer doesn't list a location, but reviews the same two businesses (Blue Sky and an Anaheim, California heating contractor) as one of the California reviewers.
But I haven't personally used/talked to them or known of anyone who has.
Pretty amazing the lengths they've gone to in order to fake a good reputation. So many of the good "reviews" on places like Google and Citysearch are clearly from fake accounts used by a paid service to list such things.
And the "awards" Blue Sky boasts of having won on their site all seem to either be from shadow businesses operated by the same people (Building Blocks) or businesses that offer such honors to anyone for a fee (U.S. Commerce Association "Best of Raleigh").
General rule of thumb is that you don't want to pay for anyone who spends that much on billboards, commercials, and fancy trucks. I recommend Carrington Contracting and there are several other good contractors in town. I wouldn't recommend Blue Sky.
