Mrs. BCR and I are in the market for a couple of oriental rugs for our formal living room, dining room, and hall and possibly a couple of other spaces. Belk has opened a temporary store in the Southpoint food court and the staff there tells me it's just like the sale they run via tents in the parking lot of their store at Crabtree Valley.

The sale looks "too good to be true" ... and we all know what that means. 50% off "list" then another 50% off that. But not really sure what the value point is for these in the first place, though I'm expecting to pay significantly more than I would, say, at Pottery Barn for a rug.

Anyone have experience specifically w/ Belk and how good their rug buys are during these special sales? Thanks!

don't know. Sorry. but I just wanted to let you know I miss your blog. Hope you'll be able to start posting again in the new year.

as for rugs, have you considered Capel? they have a really nice assortment of Persian styles. The larger ones run in the $1500-$2000 (for 7X9). I'd buy from Capel before Pottery Barn.

I purchased a couple of large Karastan rugs from Belks about 15 years ago, when they had them on sale.

I recently had to have them cleaned (don't ask but it relates to cat having diabetes!) and the guy who cleaned them told me they had doubled in price. Not sure if that is true and I don't plan on selling them but I always felt that I got them at a good price.
