Planting pansies over tulips make a great choice. I remember seeing some many years ago downtown.

You'll know what kind of flowers to plant by driving by Lowes or any other garden center. Watch for them to put flowers out front and you'll get some ideas.

Default Garden Store

Does anyone know of a local garden shop where I can get mums and hay and gourds, pumkins and other fall stuff? I live in Wake Forest. Thanks

I strongly second the opinion for pansies & mums. Choose the mums carefully and plant well and they will keep coming up year after year in this Zone.

Mums planted years ago still come up at our home. After they get frosty in October just cut them off with shears about 3 " long, add a light blanket of pine needles and forget them while the pansies take over and become showy until nearly May. By May the mums are several inches tall. Pull the pansies and pinch the mums back until mid August then wait. They will set buds and bloom until frost.

Does anyone else do this?

My mom has mum gardens just about lol. They seem to bloom all kinds of times during the spring, summer and fall.
