Developers of the Lakestone Commons shopping center in Fuquay-Varina have inked a deal with Big Lots to build a new store next to the existing Kohl’s department store.

The 30,187-square-foot build-to-suit option for Big Lots is a shift in strategy for the company in the Triangle region. Big Lots has typically leased empty junior anchor spaces in existing shopping centers that other large retailers had already vacated. The Fuquay-Varina store will be one of Big Lots’ first new store buildings in the Triangle.

I personally would have liked something else, but at least there finally building something else there.

Would have been better off with nothing. How many walmart type stores does one need?

I've noticed that the quality of Big Lots stores seems to vary depending on the area. The one in Cary has some nice things, but the one on New Bern Ave. is a different story. Hopefully, the Fuquay store will be one of the nicer ones.

I think this is a good thing and will hopefully help get Lakestone kicking along too. That huge parking lot surrounded by empty lots is a bit of an eye sore. At the very least it will provide some more jobs for the area, albeit mostly low paying.
