We own land, and wondered if anyone knows of a good builder in the Cary area. We talked to Toll Brothers, but they will not travel as far as some of the companies. We heard about Woodward Builders, but they don't return our calls. Any leads are welcome. Thanks.

If you are going to build on your own land, at a price point like that, I would suggest you consider using a custom or semi-custom builder, rather than a tract builder or production builder.

Wardson
Rice
Lloyd Builders

Three who come to mind quickly.

I would be shocked to hear that Toll Brothers would single-build anywhere. I know Trip loyd, and he's a great builder. I've met with Wardson, and they seem highly-qualified. I've seen Rice recommended many times.

Rufty Homes and Bost Construction are also very well thought of. There are also some additional good builders, but I suppose some idea of size of home, your thoughts on price range, etc would help the realtors answer your question for you.

Where is the land? That would also help anyone referring a builder.

Default me too!

I may be looking for a builder for my land in the next year or so also. Do any of these recommendations refer to design and build firms? Or does one need to either bring with you a purchased plan or else accept one that the builder has on file?

A good custom builder will build off yours or your architect's plans, or provide/modify a plan they have to suit you.
