The HWY is fine i think. Drive it everyday. I could name some other roads that could use it besides this one. How about adding lanes to crapitol blvd north of Durant.
Do we need tolls or a DOT that can get proper work done?
Just toll the expansion of Falls of Neuse, or the needed upgrades to Capital. How about the recent repaving of Glenwood Avenue? Or the syncing of lights in Raleigh? Raleigh recently reworked Fayetville - maybe they should toll all those pedestrians who are walking along the nicely reworked sidewalks and streets. I'm sure there are plenty of other repaving projects that are just ripe for additional tolls.
It will be a long time before we see lanes added to 540. NCDOT would say that adding lanes to 40 south of Raleigh and rebuilding the ancient segment of 440 between Hillsborough St and Cary are more important.
So let me get this straight: A road that has no potholes, no chunks missing, and no visible issues other than faded lines is now getting repaved? This is being done while the powers that be in Raleigh say that they don't have enough money to finish building the road and they must make it a toll road in order to have it paid for, our gas tax is the highest in the Southeast which is supposed to go (in part) to roads, and the governor is trying to get an additional 3/4 cent tax raise because the state doesn't have enough money for its budget?
If we can have 682 posts about "moving to Raleigh, need advice".....then yes, apparantly we do.
I guess we don't afterall.
