Looking for turkey bologna in the deli counter at a grocery store. Tried all of the big stores (HT, Lowes, WM, etc) but nobody carries turkey bologna. All of the stores carry Boar's Head products now and nobody has it.
Just wondering if there is anyone else out there who eats turkey bologna and where I can find it...
Not a big fan of bologna, but Applegate Farms makes a natural turkey one. Turkey Bologna
I know that Whole Foods, Earth Fare and Trader Joes all carry Applegate, but don't know if they stock the bologna so you might call them.
Can you order meat by the pound from where they make the deli sandwiches? I go to the Durham one all the time and I've never seen anything to indicate that they sold meat by the pound such as a price board or anything.

You certainly can. I know both Raleigh locations (Wade Ave. and Six Forks Rd.) have full-up deli counters where you can get cold cuts by the pound.

Yes, I have bought deli meat by the pound at the Durham Whole Foods many times. It's delicious but pricey! I like Boar's Head, but the Whole Foods stuff tastes even better. If I recall, the price board is small and either on top of within the meat case. They don't have a huge selection of stuff, but certainly a number of different choices.
One of my next projects was to find some good deli in Durham. I'm not a Whole Foods hippie type but if they've got good fresh cuts I'm interested.
By the way, I'd avoid Boars Head baloney...I tried it three times at spaced intervals, and each time it had an unmistakable fecal smell. I don't have the experience to determine whether it had a fecal taste.
Considering where baloney comes from, one could understand something like this happening, but one would hope that the manufacturer would have been more careful.
