I plan on moving from Houston to Raleigh around the beginning of next year. I was wondering how much does the apartments prices range...I have a 11 yr old daughter and a small dog. I would like a safe area...Would I be able to find a decent apt for around $600 a month? And what about the parks? Is there a place for me to jog/run?
What part of Raleigh will you be looking in? Where will you be working? I don't think you'll find an apartment that cheap, but you might try Trinity Park apartments in Raleigh. It's very centrally located and reasonably priced for the area. I'm assuming you want a two bedroom?
There are tons of greenways and walking trails all over the city. We don't have crime here like in Houston. I wouldn't worry about that. There are a few bad spots. Houston seems to be all bad spots with a very few good ones around. It's the opposite here.
I moved here from Houston 10 years ago. I think you'll like the change - I know I do.
I'm assuming you will want at least two bedrooms? $600 seems pretty low; then again, I don't have much experience with apartments in Raleigh. Will you be working? If so, do you know what part of town? That can make a difference.
I moved here from Houston more than 3 years ago. Come on up! I really doubt you'll find an apartment that you'll feel is nice enough for $600. $800-$1000 is more likely. There is plenty to do here and there are a lot of places to run/walk/hike. You can search apartments in the area using online search engines that allow you to put in the area and how much money you want to spend on rent. Then I'd make a trip to come tour the apartments and surrounding areas. Good luck!!
Thanks guys! Im doing a transfer from Bush International Airport in Houston to Raleigh Durham International. I'm willing to pay $800.00 a month for an apartment....I was just hoping somebody would say $600.00 a month is something reasonable in that area.....lol....

I only wish $600 would do a nice 2 BR.
We live in a safe community but a large 2 BR is over $800 + all utilities.

There are a lot of apartments around Lake Lynn in North Raleigh. There is a park and a 2 mile trail around the lake. Apartments run about 700-750 for two bedrooms. (this was in January time of the year when prices are lower) Lake Lynn is pretty close to RDU Airport. Good luck with the move and North Carolina welcomes you.
I will be relocating to Raleigh from Atlanta. I have been told a lot of negative things about south and southeast Raleigh, so my question is what are some of the nicer suburbs/areas? I am looking for something quiet, but family oriented.
Southeast Raleigh is the bad area. That is were most of Raleigh's crime is. West Raleigh and north Raleigh are really safe. Apex and Cary are really safe as well. Fuquay seems like there is a lot of break-ins and robberies. Plus fuquay seems far from good sit down resturants and other activities such as bowling, movies and fun things for kids. There are no lakes to walk around or any jogging trails in fuquay. Holly springs is coming along and is pretty much like apex but smaller. I have lived in holly springs, apex, Cary, fuquay, and now in north raleigh. I like north Raleigh the best but that's only my opinion.
