With so many hispanic grocery stores, I have to believe there is someplace that has fresh roasted green chile's around here. Unpeeled anaheims, hatch and/or poblano's - anyone have any ideas?
Should have asked last week and I would have given you some of mine from the garden
I can't recall seeing any in the hispanic markets here that were fresh but if anyone were to have them in Raleigh I bet it would be that huge hispanic market on Capital Blvd. Or you could always try going into a taqueria and see if they'll sell you a container of their roasted poblanos.

I have found them fresh in many markets and could roast them myself. But I'm trying to avoid that step. Peeling them is work enough! After living in Phoenix for so many years, I can't happily live without them.
Sometimes they roast them at the Carrboro Farmer's Market. I haven't been on Saturday recently, but I think it was last year Peregrine Farm was roasting them in one of those cages that you turn over the flame.
We just came back from El Mandado. Nope, they don't roast chile's, but have a good selection of fresh and dried chile's as well as other Latin food items, produce and cuts of meat. the prices were very reasonable.
Although it doesn't compare to Pro's Ranch Market in Phoenix, it does have the largest variety of Mexican Crema that I've ever seen - including the months I've lived in Mexico! Mexican crema, Salvadorian crema, Hondorian crema, from thick to thin, white to ivory to nearly a light yellow color. But NO fresh Anaheim or Hatch chile's on site. Very strange.
I'll be roasting jalapeno's and poblanos myself under the broiler, I guess. But I'd still love to find out who has Anaheims and if anyplace roasts them on site.
