transporting Car from Long Island, NY to Durham? (home, live)

I need to hire a company to transport my car from Long Island to Durham. Anyone have any recommendations or good experiences?

The best way I know is to let the professionals actually bid on the job. This site will give you a reference starting point then the shippers will actually bid on the job which decreases the cost for you. Lots of info on the home page of how it works.

Just like when you move home furnishings, start with the departure location. THEY will be the one loading the car. Francois has it exactly right.
