With the drought situation getting worse I thought it would be interesting to see who's lawn looks the most pitiful. I stopped watering my lawn 5 months ago and it looks horrible now . Here are a few recent pics. Feel free to post pictures of your dead lawn if you want a shot at the title. The winner of the "2007 Worst Lawn in The Triangle" gets a beer on my tab at the next Triangle Citi-Data Meetup!

My Dead Front Yard!

Bare Spots And Weeds In My Backyard!

The Earth Is So Dry it Is Cracking Apart! (Gotta love all those rocks in the clay too!)

My one Saving Grace a 10'x10' area in the backyard that is shaded. The fescue looks great even without watering for 5 months!

Hey, just wanted to thank the anonymous poster for leaving me a negative rep point and a rude comment. I guess you don't like beer? I'll buy you a "shirley temple" instead!

a neg point for that? crazy. I'll play but you'll have to wait until I get a chance to take pics. Mine looks just about like yours, but my back yard still looks actually looks pretty good. It's the front yard that looks horrible.

Too bad I don't have before pics of my lawn from last week, rather, my clay. My backyard was solid dirt, and it's a BIG backyard. Front looked about like your worst pics.

My looks like that. Maybe worse actually. Is it a bad time to have a sprinkler system installed?

No, its actually a very good time. You can then overseed where the trenches are dug (assuming you don't pay extra to have the pipes pulled through), and keep the seed moist so that it germinates.

But (and this is a big but), a sprinkler system is not going to help a whole lot until the drought ends, as there will be severe watering restrictions in place until it does. It does help some, though, as it automates the watering if/when you are allowed to do it.

Back lawn COMPLETELY gone...bare dirt - except somehow the weeds seem to do just fine, about once a month I have to mow the weeds! Front lawn getting to that point real fast......
