You can get pine nuts at Whole Foods in their bulk section, and just purchase what you need. It's much cheaper that way.

I buy all my spices and nuts at Whole Foods, because the prices are so much better. For example, they sell a one-pound bag of pistachios for $5.99, which is almost half of what it costs elsewhere. Over the holidays, I got a 2-cup bag of chopped pecans for $4.99; Lowes Foods had the tiny 1/2 cup bags for $2.50, meaning I would have paid $10.00 for 2 cups.

I second Trader Joes. I buy all my nuts there unless I find a good sale. Much more reasonable than the grocery stores and reasonable quantity.

We stopped eating them completely if they come from China (which most affordable ones do).

Italian and Mediteranean ones are expensive but worth it if you're goign to enjoy them.

I had a delicious hearth baked pizza up North ones and they added pine nute...I was hooked ever since...Can't remember where I got them here, probably in whole foods. They are quite expensive so I limit using them for special plates on special occasions..

I have seen them on occasion at Aldi's for a very reasonable price, but not sure if they carry them all the time

I was in Trader Joe's yesterday and happened to walk by the pine nuts, so I looked at the price - $7.99 for 8 ounces.

The best dinner I ever had was butternut squash ravioli with a light cream and sage sauce covered with roasted pine nuts in Newport RI...YUM!!! It was so expensive but well worth it!

I make something similar to that. Sweet potato and sage ravioli with asparagus and country ham in a maple cream sauce topped with toasted pecans. Though these days pecans can be as expensive as pine nuts!
