Which part of the Triangle will you be in? Do you need just vegetarian or do you have some vegans with you as well?

I'm vegan and like:

Cafe Curry Leaves

Irregardless Cafe

Inchin's Bamboo Garden

Spring Rolls

Tom Yum Thai

Mawa's Taste of Africa

I haven't been to Solas Raleigh yet, but they have started offering a vegan menu on Mondays.

When I go out to eat I like to go to a restaurant that has more than 1 or 2 possible vegan choices on the menu, so I usually wind up at ethnic places.

Sitti has a good selection of both vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. Remedy Diner does as well.

I did not like Cafe Curry Leaves

My co-worker took me to Pure Vegetarian South Indian Cuisine - www.SriUDUPI.com It was great!

One thing I like about Cafe Curry Leaves is that you can talk to the lady who does the cooking and find out for sure which dishes are vegan. I usually get carryout from there once a week.

I've eaten at Udipi once so far - the food was good but the menu descriptions were not indicative of the ingredients, and there was a definite communication barrier with the waiter we had. The lunch buffet at Tower Indian Restaurant was very good, but difficult to navigate as things weren't labeled in English. Eating out vegan is a bit of a challenge, especially if you are the type of person who doesn't like to ask a lot of questions.

Remedy Diner in downtown Raleigh has a decent selection of vegan items.
Udupi Cafe in Cary is good for vegetarian south Indian fare.

I would add Martin's Curry Rice in Morrisville to the list. You can google for his website.

You can ask Martin what the local veggies are since he hits up farmer's markets to get his produce.

He has tofu as well as meats so it is a place you can eat with meat-eating friends and has three levels of curry sauce which you can mix depending on the level of spicy you want.
