I don't have much of that, either. We have a super shady yard. I've had hammocks for many, many years and used to always prefer the cotton rope because it's softer, but I'll never go back to it now. It mildews so quickly and holds water if it gets wet and stays sopping for way longer. I'm really happy with the synthetic.
Unless you regularly stain/oil the wood, as well as keep it from getting wet, pretty much anything is going to rot after seven years in our heat and humidity. I don't believe they make outdoor wooden furniture out of pressure treated wood but even then that needs to be maintained with some regularity.
Should have been more clear -- "fast" was "within 18 months."
It was painted and the paint peeled fast and from there, that's all she wrote.
They were nice people and I am in the market for a hammock, too -- might consider trying them for that.
Whoever was at artsplosure had awesome hammocks...the best we've seen. Sould have grabbed a card because now we want one and the ones we have seen since Dont compare.
The power of the interwebs....found this listing on the Artsplosure site. I think I only remembered one hammock maker and they did look like this I think!
They also have a list of craft fairs that they attend and they are planning on returning to the area for Cary Lazy Daze in August (8/25) or else head to a lot of craft fairs in Virginia (where they are based).
That's where we got ours, mskb. I posted the link upthread.
Haha - thanks! I had read through the thread earlier but forgot that you had posted about them when I was browsing at 1:30 am! Good to know that the quality is good - hopefully rory comes back to take a look...
