Owner is selling our condo, we need a place to live! (apartment, townhome)

We live in Bishop's Park. Pay $995 for a beautiful 2-br, 1 bath, and unfortunately, the owner of the condo is selling, and we need to find a new place to live. Having trouble muddling through all these Craigslist ads and separating the scams from the real housing.

Any suggestions for a cute, small, affordable downtownish apartment/condo/townhome/house that is cat-friendly? Any direction would be greatly appreciated!
