How far in advance to set up utilities, dmv, etc (Durham: closing, living)

We will be relocating in the next few weeks and I was curious how soon it is recommended to set up for heat, water, electric, cable, internet, garbage, dmv, etc. Does anyone have any recommendation on where to begin. Thanks

I called the electric and gas company and city water 2 months before my closing date in Durham to make sure we had utilities when we moved in. I made the request online w/ Duke Energy. You might check your new local uts online to see if you can do the same. The websites are a good place to start. But if you are unsure who your utility companys are then your realtor should be able to tell you.

Also, DMV requires you have proof you are a resident, which you won't have until you get here. But you are suppose to get a NC license w/in the 1st 60 days of living here. There ae many DMV threads on this site. I recommend searching them.
