Yes....but you will always be paying more for the same level of service so TWC still gets more of your money. There has to be a break point where it's no longer worth the price paid and that varies by individual needs.

This time they would not give us a current promotion. We did cut the cord, and we're not missing a thing. Local channels are BETTER with the HD antenna than with cable. Hulu Plus, Netflix, and Amazon Prime are giving us all we want to watch and more. Adios, TWC!

Not without a subscription to HBO, which you can ONLY buy with a cable or satellite package.

I guess this is my first post - but I have been lurking for a while. After the monthly TWC bill jumped from 120 to 220, we cut the cord (negotiating phone+internet to 50$ month).

We live in W Orange county, about 35 miles from the Raleigh transmission towers. I played with a few antennas - first a generic unpowered antenna (poor results), then a powered Mohu Leaf (spotty results). It was clear we would need a high-powered attic-mounted antenna.

In doing research I encountered the new Mohu Sky antenna (175$) and the Antennas Direct Clearstream 4 ($85). After comparing reviews (and scratching my head about the price point of the Mohu Sky) I went with the Clearstream 4. It is quite amazing! The antenna, plus a small 15db RCA signal amplifier ($25) has produced amazing results.

Some note -
- The Clearstream 4 does not come with a mounting pole, and of course you'll need wiring to run the drops from your roof or attic.
- The amplifier's strength should be a function of your cable length+number of splits. If you're splitting, I think it is safe to assume you will want/need and amplifier.
- I never tried the Mohu Sky so I could be missing out...but since I get all the Raleigh channels fine (from the tower SE of raleigh) I don't think the extra cost is warranted.

Finally...the DTV Antenna + Hulu, Netflix, Apple TV, Prime...honestly it is more entertainment than anyone needs. But I do enjoy gadgets and setting it all up....now to find time to watch...ha!

Yes! And would do it again in and instant. I cut the landline phone in 2006 when I bought my first house. Virtually none of my single friends under the age of 30 have a landline anymore and only a handful of couples. the 80's babies are done with landlines except for at work (A necessary evil). I have a Mohu Leaf antenna which works great at my north Raleigh home and I have Netflix and HuluPlus I may swap out Hulu for Amazon Prime as I'm hearing good things but I'm undecided.

If those twenty-somethings and 80's babies had the hearing of a 60-70 year old, they would still have the landline, I'm sad to say. Even sadder because the only source for a landline in Brier Creek is TWC.
