Thanks - it definately helps! I believe my company are going to deduct a contribution directly from my salary to pay for the personal use, we believe this may be the easiest way of doing things - does that sound like something that is doable?

Happy holidays!

Yes, that's doable. If you're paying for your personal use, that's equivalent to having your own car; therefore there would be no income to you. There will probably be a calculation done at year-end to determine if your monthly deduction covers what your personal use actually is. And if your personal usage exceeds what you have paid, they will report it as wages to you.

Look into Per Diem. I think you can get around $130 per day (7 days a week) and then pay out of your pocket for your expenses with no worry. I love per diem and that is how my employer pays me. No paper work and no tracking. The only criteria is that you have to keep your main residence and it should be more than 50 miles away from the new location. Also might not work after one year.

Good advice. Do check to see how you can work out a per diem based employment situation! Could be very advantageous, tax wise.

I have a company car. When I submit my T & E reports, I log my personal miles. I don't know what my company considers as the overage amount on personal miles. On my November paycheck, my personal mileage was added as income and taxed. I lucked out and it was $70.00. I would ask your HR person.

Thanks guys - this is greatly appreciated. We are in the process of hiring a local person to help with our accounts/admin, so we'll see what they come up with!

I'm now living here (arrived yesterday), so guess I better have this sorted out soon!
