Trader Joe's really is your best bet. Why isn't that an option?

I think many of us from out of state who are used to big grocery stores with good prices and great sales are shocked at the grocery stores here. They are much smaller and more expensive, in my opinion.
I'm from WI and am having the same problem.

I don't notice any difference in the quality or prices in stores here vs. where I shopped when I lived in NJ, NY, or VA.

I have noticed that people on this forum are very passionate about their grocery shopping.

Well since nobody else has mentioned it you should check out earth fare along with being organic and gmo free, it has a delicious sandwiches, pizza, hot/salad bar, chicken dinner Tuesdays, kids eat free nights, 3 dollar grass fed beef burgers Sunday dinners with the option of having a organic veggie burger instead, as others have mentioned don't know about deals but whole foods, and like others have mentioned as for as grocery stores go, I like Harris teeter, not only is it a good grocery store the food is pretty good too you should check them out on five dollar foot long sub Fridays

haha well I LOVE to eat/eat good and I do live on a budget like many of us, that's why. I refuse to shop Walmart unless I REALLY REALLY have too.

The difference between here and city I lived in Ohio is the prices and availkability of good stuff. Dry fruits, produces,... I love to cook/eat so it's a little frustrating but it could be worse. I mean at least we have Trader Joe's (didn't have it in city I lived in Ohio), whole food and Harris Teeter (I really liked it when I went shopping yesterday: very clean store, very nice employees and good products). It's my first week in Raleigh, I'm sure in few weeks I will find more places to shop from

The problem with Earth Fare is they tend to leave expired product on the shelf. The last time I went about 1 month ago I had to drag the cashier over to a display to show them two jars of apple butter past the expiration date. My neighbor has had the same problem. I still shop there but I've very careful to look over the labels.

OP, you might also consider Lowes Foods. I don't know how much organic stuff they carry, but it's clean, well lit and products are generally of high quality. It is a bit more expensive than a Kroger.
