My son and I participated in the 25th annual Walk for Hope today. This event is held the 2nd Sunday of October each year. It is a really nice event for a great cause (mental health). We did the 5K walk (really 4 miles total), but there is also a 10K walk option, plus a 5K and 10K run, as well as a 1 mile nature walk.

Lots of activities on site as well. Morning bagels + coffee, a huge lunch offering once you are done, soda and beer to drink, and a large children's play area with bounce houses, slides, game trucks, etc.

Morning while everyone is gathering.

Ms North Carolina giving us our sendoff.

Heading up from Angus Barn on US-70. We were in the middle of the masses.

Still heading up from Angus Barn toward Umstead Park.

Folks grabbing a bite after the walk. There was a huge spread and a lot of food selections.

And you got to listen to live music while you ate or your children played.

And there were plenty of options for the children. Bounce house, slides, basketball goals, dance machine, game truck, face painting.

Wow! Looks like a much bigger turnout-and much longer walk, than the Buddy walk for Down Syndrome we did today.
