We love Kure/Carolina and Atlantic Beach. Both are really kid friendly. We usually stay at Atlantic Towers which is right on the border of Carolina and Kure. They are all oceanfront condos (1 and 2 bedrooms) with indoor and outdoor pools. We've even spent Thanksgiving there. It was great. We always stay in the same condo and have a good relationship with the owners. Kure has Ft. Fisher and the aquarium, both are fun to explore. You can take the Ferry over to Southport and do some shopping. They have some great little shops, some run by local artists. There's a great little deli/coffee house where the stars frequent when they're in town. Carolina/Kure are short rides from the triangle. If you go to Carolina/Kure, you have to try a donut from Britt's. They are the best. in. the. world.

Atlantic beach has a nice little small town vibe, but the ride is longer. The beach is nice though. Ft. Macon is there and that's fun to explore. They also have an aquarium, which the kids love. We stay in a great condo there that we found at VRBO. The lady who owns that one lives in Raleigh.

If I were you, I would start with the closest beaches and explore each one on your own. You'll find what you like. NC has the most beautiful beaches, but it seems that each family has their own tastes.

OK, now how about we keep this little gem on the down low, please??

We do not need a google search to start telling folks that the outer banks is not where to vacation!

If you ever go to Myrtle beach be 100% sure it is NOT during one of the bike events that last for weeks..If you are deaf and dont plan to drive it wont matter

Beaufort is a 2 hour drive from Carolina Beach. Did you mean Southport? Did you use the ferry?
