I've searched on my phone, I've stopped at a bunch of places I thought had it, and so far, nothing other than a few heating oil places (which are not open when I'm off work).
I KNOW there are gas stations that sell it.
Like the title says, I live in proximity of Costco in Apex/Cary
(I just need a gallon or so, for cleaning some bike parts.)
I'm just back from a bicycle ride and visited four fueling stations along NC55. None sell kerosene, though one (Williams Street at Salem Street) has an out-of-service pump.
The Shell station on corner of 54 and Barbee Rd in Southpoint area sells it.

Either that, or I'll buy a gallon at Wal-Mart. I greatly appreciate all the responses, I'm baffled it's so hard to find. Seems not too long ago, it was almost as common as Diesel.

It is used for heating in winter, so not as available in summer.
