Can anyone recommend orthopaedic surgeons in the area for the procedure. I see there are alot of larger groups but trying to poll the forum site to see the collective opinion of any great doc experiences as this is a major procedure.

Thank you!

Back in my days in workers' comp, one of our clients went to Dr. Phil Clifford at Triangle Orthopaedic. He was VERY happy with Dr. Clifford and they were a great office to work with.

Michael Bolognesi at Duke Ortho. I see him at the facility off Page Rd (I-40). He's the best--personal experience. And a local Durham boy!

Dr. Brett Gilbert at Triangle Ortho also gets my vote. I had a total knee replacement done two years ago and it's been a breeze.

Here's the thing, though, no matter who you select as a surgeon: If you don't do the physical therapy that is required, the benefit from your surgery will be minimal. So go see Dr. Gilbert. He's the guy that my family physician (who played linebacker in college) said he would go to for the surgery I was having. Then do the PT.
All of it. Every day. No matter what. No excuses.

Regards,
Streamer1212

I would recommend dr. Paul Greenlaw out of Wilson which is close by. As a physical therapist, i have worked with many of his patients post surgery and they all have had very positive experiences with him. I have enclosed a quick link that gives some basic info on him.
Dr. Paul Greenlaw, MD - Orthopaedic Surgeon in Wilson, NC - Orthopaedic Surgery

Paul Lachiewicz (Chapel Hill Orthopedics). Replaced both hips and both knees for my mother (four separate operations). Rehab went smoothly each time. First one (hip) was done around 1989. She has other issues making mobility a problem, but not from the replacements.
