Hi! My husband, 2 year old son and I will be moving to a neighborhood in Rolesville in the beginning of the year. I am not at all familiar with the areas, especially doctors and schools. I know there isn't much in Rolesville so I don't mind driving some. I am looking for recommendations on Pediatricians, dentists, OB/GYN, Family Practice and also preschools.

For a dentist in Wake Forest we like Dr. Deerstyne...he is right by where 98 crosses one, by the McDonalds. He is not a ped dentist, but he does a wonderful job with children.
Village Famiy Care for a family physician. Dr. Scott Knopka there is excellent, thorough, takes the time to listen carefully. Rolesville has an Urgent Care practice that is walk-in, if you need it, and Dr. Tayler there is good also. Nver in a hurry (which is rare these days).
for a pediatrician (in wake forest at least) I take my kids to jeffers and mann, which is close to the factory, so probably only 15 minutes for you from rolesville. I have been quite happy with the practice so far. Dentist, I actually go to Earwood and Zevros which is in north raleigh, and I like them quite a bit. I am sure the ones in wake forest are good as well, but I have never tried them. For pediatric dentist, we go to see Dr. Dave Olson who is also in north raleigh. Moderator cut: removed

I live in Wake Forest and I’m not particularly happy with Village Family Care. I was having strange headaches during the summer and never got to see a real doctor. All my visits were with the physician’s assistant before I was ultimately referred to a specialist. Thank God the headaches went away without the need for medication. I suspect my problem may have been a result of the exceptionally hot summer. We had a few days of about 105 degrees!

In all fairness to Dr. Konopka, he wasn't there yet. He was transferred to Village Family Care when Heritage Family Care in Wake Forest was closed down by the parent company (which is based in FL, I believe). He just started there in October, which is some time after your experience. He is excellent.
However, you make a good point - it's a heads up to anyone going there, or anywhere for that matter, to be assertive in managing their own care and insist on seeing a doctor if you are not happy being seen by a Physicians Assistant. Sometimes, a PA is actually better - my past experience in another state was always good with PAs.
The trouble is that nowadays the "big bosses" are bottom-line oriented, and dictate to the pratice what and how they must do things to maximize their profits. The patient needs the resolve and the courage to dig their heels in and state how *they* want to do things. Somewhere, there needs to be a middle ground.
If you weren't being helped, you should have insisted on seeing one of the doctors, just for your own peace of mind, if seeing a PA was not to your liking. As I said, I never objected to seeing a PA because my experiences were good.
