. . . is there a single school that takes overflow students or are new kids sent to a variety of other places? I am interested in an apartment complex whose base middle school is Mills Park but it is capped for 2014-15. I have left messages with the school and the district for the answer to this question but I haven't heard back yet. Wondering if any of you might know how this is handled. Thanks so much for any feedback you can provide.

There is usually one overflow school. You could try to transfer to another school, but that's not guaranteed. Your overflow school might depend on your address.
If you are local, I would visit the school in person. They are there during the summer, but I wouldn't expect much next week since it's a holiday week.
WCPSS says there would be a choice of overflow schools:
"If a student's assigned school is capped, he or she will be offered a choice of overflow schools. Contact Student Assignment or your base school with questions."
I believe your choice of overflow schools is East Cary for year-round or West Cary for traditional, unless you're in Brier Creek, in which case your only overflow option is Leesville.

Thank you all; I did get a call back from an administrator late today who confirmed exactly what SFspiderman said. I appreciate your feedback.
