Bye Bye MA, Hello NC (Cary, Apex: good schools, price, shop)

My family and I are thinking of relocating to NC from MA (Too cold here, BRRR) We are looking at the Cary, Apex, Wake Forest area. Any ideas which one is better for friendly, safe communities to raise the kids, and good schools? We prefer the ones where kids can still dress up in costumes at school for halloween and have fun. Thanks!

It will all boil down to other factors that are important to you:
-Commute to work
-House Price Range
-Community Amenities
-Shopping, etc.
