Hi,
I just started looking around for a local gym, preferably in durham, that has these facilities:
outdoor & indoor swimming pools
racquetball courts
indoor basketball courts
classes like bodyjam, bodyattack, spinning, etc.
steam room
childcare (optional)
& ofcourse exercise machines

I dont want to go to ymca as its in downtown & I hate driving in downtown, especially in evenings so looking for something around southpoint as I live closeby. I could go a little further if I have to but I want a good quality gym for the family.

Thanks for any suggestions.

You don't have to drive downtown to go to the Y, as there's a location in Hope Valley Farms, that's certainly not downtown and a lot closer to you. I can't speak to what amenities they offer, but it looks like they have at least one pool, kids programs, classes and activities, and tennis courts.

Hope Valley Farms YMCA | South Durham, N.C.

There's also UNC Wellness Meadowmont

Didn't know ymca had a branch so closeby. Google showed the one in downtown so I rejected that. Will definitely check these out asap.

Speaking on the YMCA, if you are ever in the area, the Lakewood Y is extremely nice. They renovated it a couple years back and it's very clean & nice. Well run place. I avoid going to gyms during peak hours so I can't speak on that, but it's never crowded even on the weekends. All of the Y's have free child care, and the Lakewood one has racquetball courts, classes and a sauna.

I haven't been to the Hope Valley location but I believe their pool is outdoors only. They got rid of the old indoor pool at Lakewood when they renovated it, so I think downtown is the only location left for swimming indoors
