Hi all,

Have a good friend visiting today and trying to think of some stuff to do with him for a few hours...like me, he is a huge baseball fan, and I thought it'd be cool to show him the DBAP. I was wondering if the grounds are open in the offseason - as in, can you walk in and check out the stadium? Or would he have to see it strictly from the outside?

Thanks!

Pretty sure it's locked up. You might check their website to see if they offer tours, or other options. That said, the area is great to show people. If I'm taking an out of towner to the DBAP, I always park in the upper deck, so I can walk them down past the train, and along the water. Very impressive. (I always think of DBAP as a mini-version of Camden Yard. Back before every minor league city had a DT Stadium, DBAP was very unique. Still very cool!)

Yeah, I searched the site and googled and everything and couldn't find anything about tours, in season or off season. We'll probably go to the tobacco campus anyway, he can check it out from the outside, and terrific idea about parking in the upper deck!

Have dinner at Tobacco Road Cafe and sit on the porch overlooking right field.

After the latest renovation this past year, you can actual enter the stadium (no gate anymore) down the left field line, near Ed Mitchell's Que, then climb the stairs up to the Tobacco Road restaurant. They have a mobile fence blocking you from actually entering the concourse down the 3rd base side (they move it during games), but you can get a great view of the stadium and the front of the bull sign, from what is accessible.

That is your best option, IMO.

You may want to contact the Bulls front office and see. I'm pretty sure the Ballpark Corner Store (the Bulls giftshop) stays open during the offseason so it's possible they might be able to accommodate you.
