For any former Pittsburghers in the area, how long does the drive take to Raleigh from the burgh? My wife has an interview in RTP and we are trying to plan the trip out. Google Maps says 8 hours?

7-8 hrs ...about 500miles..but if you use the west side thru west virginia or east side ..on the west side you can skip the turnpike and crazy traffic with nice scenery

I made it to the Burgh in a little over 7 hours last summer. You will have plenty of Steelers fans around if you make the move

Steeler Nation = Everyone is leaving Western PA.

I live in Western PA and travel for work. I am amazed at the Steeler fans. Can't help with the directions but I say 8 hours is about right.

We had tons of Pittsburgh fans in the DC area too. Lots of bandwagoners...

7-8 hours is right. We have done the western route and the eastern route (would love a "straight as the crow flies" route). We prefer the eastern route because it is beautiful. We go through Winchester, VA on route 17...

I drive this every year. It takes me 8 hours to go from Raleigh to Lake Pymatuming area, PA.. I have gone several ways, but route 17 is best.. (hopping on to I79) and most scenic..so 7 hours is about right.. around 75 mph and stopping for gas

Default Thanks for the insight guys....

That was going to be my next question....where can I watch the Steelers games? :-)

Neither of us have been to Raleigh before and we are looking forward to the trip. We are making a weekend out of the Friday interview.

Part of me would miss the burgh if we moved, but part of me really wouldn't!
