I am looking through a flickr account called 'Raleigh' and there are SO MANY bike pictures! Whats up with that? Are bikes a big thing there?
Edit to add: or maybe the account owner just loves bikes xD lol fill me in?
A previous poster shared a link that answers your question: "Raleigh" is also the name of a brand of bicycle - one of the oldest brands, in fact. That's why you're seeing so many pictures of bikes.
If you are looking for pictures of Raleigh in flickr make sure to add the nc, other wise you are going to get pics of "Raleigh" bicycles as in the Raleigh Bicycle Company based out of the UK, on a side note people do like riding their bikes around here, wish they would at least say, hey i'm on a bike, maybe I should move out the way if the speed limit is 50+ but no, I'm just going to ride like I'm taking a easy stroll who cares about all the cars right behind me, they're just going to have to wait, even though there are bike lanes, side walks, and greenways every where. They might be going to work, but my leisurely ride is more important.
Don't get me wrong I ride my bike daily I'm just not a jerk about it, when I see there are cars behind me, I move the hell out the way, people may scream they have the right away, but logic says, some drivers don't care and or are not paying attention and might just hit me, right away or not.
I've been around, and the number of bicyclists in the Raleigh area seemed pretty much average in comparison.. if you want a place with a prominent showing of bicyclists, the Denver and Boulder areas fit the bill much better.
