I have purchased a home in North Raleigh (near Norther Ridge country club in 27615, off Falls of Neuse) that has a wood burning masonry type fireplace. I don't think the previous owner took great care of it. So, it needs to be inspected and swept. I've never owned a home with a wood burning fireplace before. Anybody have experience out there that can tell me what things I need to know about and think about? I've heard there can be some draft issues and ventilation concers that I need to be careful and attentive to. Any specific recommendations for inspectors and chimney sweeping services/contractors that anyone has? I'm also going to have to find a good location to get my wood for the upcoming winter season. Any thoughts?
