Gave me an idea for us to start sharing (without any false libel!) where you have found an unhygienic
place to not dine.

I realize Yelp! already does some of this.

I'm in search of an affordable fast-casual high-health-inspection rating Asian place in or near Cary.

Fast-casual? If you don't have an aversion to chains, the Pei Wei near Cary Towne Center's pretty decent. Always seems clean and I've never had any issues there.

Pei Wei on Falls in Raleigh is good too. Only issue is high noise level, so bad you can't hear the clerk when you order.

Many new menu items popping up.

Penn Station subs in Sutton Square is yummy.

and, its most rent inspection sez:
Almost all of the dishes have food bits left on them, especially food pans on the bottom shelf next to the dish area. All need to be re-washed.

As for unhygienic places not to dine, the issues of Johnny Carino's in Brier Creek have been well documented on this forum, but just in case an update/reminder is needed, read on. 3 critical violations and they just squeak in at a 90. How much longer can this place last, especially considering it's the only location in the state? When a health inspector asks "Fried Sliced PEPPERONI is held with no temperature control, not refrigerated. Is this safe? Contact the manufacture for guidance on safe holding. Does the manufacture call for refrigeration after opening? After Frying?" and no answer is given, it may be time to rethink your sanitation practices. Even better - after REQUESTING that reinspection:

Quote:
3-305.11; REFRIGERATORS where food is stored need cleaning. Refrigerators have sludge build-up in areas. Interior walls, Shelves and fans inside of the refrigerators are Not clean. Shelves in the walk-in cooler are Moldy. Food areas need to be maintained clean. This inspection was requested so I am surprised that refrigerators are not clean.

You can try Red Bowl over at High House and Davis. Their worst offense seems to be around some steamed rice and some shrimp that they just needed to reheat.

Hibachi China, 111 Shannon Oaks Circle, Cary NC 27511
Inspection score 95 as of 12/31/14.

Super Asian, 1207 Kildaire Farm Road, Cary NC 27511
Inspection score 97.5 as of 12/17/14.

Both are buffet restaurants. Usually you are seated upon arrival and eating within two minutes of being shown to your table.

For ordinary (but tasty) American fare, consider:
D&S Cafeteria, 1177 Buck Jones Road, Raleigh NC 27606
Inspection score 100, as of 9/24/14.

As with the Chinese Buffets, you may be eating good hot food within minutes of arrival.

The address is Raleigh but might be thought of as Cary. D&S is adjacent to South Hills Mall and not too far from the Crossroads Plaza.

One of the local news stations recently did a piece on some of the offenders in the RTP area, if interested. They zeroed in on a few chinese and indian places if memory serves.
