DH recently lost his job. He has an MBA/mechanical engineering degree with strong background in plant reliability, manufacturing, maintenance and the like. He is 55 years old. We would like to stay in this area if possible. We appreciate any suggestions, insights, and input and job search tips.
He needs to start networking asap. Call anyone he knows who may know about a job...suppliers, customers, former co-workers, people who work for competitors that he met at conferences, etc. Good luck to him.
Tri-Mech helped me a lot. They have a tech support office in Raleigh, but the recruiters are up in VA. There are several engineering recruiters in the triangle. After 60 I only got a couple of interviews, however, with no real results. I did some contract work that lead to full time.
Good luck.
It might be time to look for a plan B. I hooked up with a home based business that does internet marketing and I work with my wife to show people how to build an online network that can generate some income instead of hooking back onto the 45 year plan.
Thanks for the input. Will definitely share Tri-Mech to him.
