There were approx 360 homes that closed in the mills park elementary school zone since Dec 2012 (when the school was capped). I thought even if 25% had mills park aged kids plus those in the area before the cap and siblings of students currently enrolled in mills park, the chances did not seem good for us to attend. For 2015-2016 they are expecting a waitlist on top of the approx 160 kindergarteners approved to attend.

Yes, if you bought now, you aren't getting in. You'll get sent to their overflow school and if someone leaves Mills Park, the person at the top of the wait list gets offered the spot. If there are siblings it's tricky. Let's say you have a second grader and a fourth grader - and a second grader leaves Mills Park. Your second grader can get offered a spot but not the other child. And many people aren't interested in moving a mid-year fourth grader anyway.
