My 7 year old would like to put up a small lemonade stand in our Cary neighborhood. Does anyone know if the town requires a permit? I have heard some horror stories from around the country of police shutting down these stands and fining the parents! Thanks.

As long as your lemonade is beige, teal, or ecru, or an approved pink, you should be fine?

I've not heard of any problems with kids doing lemonade stands in Cary.

Careful. Mike is trying to set you up with the Pink Koolaide. Town of Cary will leave you alone, but the HOA's will fine you!

I wouldn't be surprised if there is a law, but I know I've seen stands in my neighborhood, and many others. I think if it's just a kid selling KoolAid on a Saturday, you "should" be fine.

Good idea, I'll check with the HOA.

Myghost is right. HOA may have rules.

And, if your kiddo is wanting to park a Lemonade Food Truck on blocks in the street from Memorial Day to Labor Day, all bets are off on regulation.

Another mark against living in an HOA. Ridiculous

Technically, you probably need your home kitchen in compliance, and inspected (no pets, shatter proof lights, etc.) by Wake county Rules and Forms
But in Cary, I wouldn't worry.

Frankly, HOA or not, if my kid wanted a lemonade stand for a couple of hours on a Saturday, one of those cute ones on a little card table with a couple of kids dancing around with signs you cannot read and yelling at cars to get lemonade, I would do it and not worry about consequences.

Newspapers, TV, and bloggers live for the opportunity to expose the goofy jack-booted thugs who would protect the world from lemonade stands under the guise of maintaining social order and appearance standards to "Protect Property Values," when they really only care to stroke their proclivities for sphincter seizures.
This actually could be real fun!

I live in Cary in an HOA neighborhood and my kids have had lemonade stands without any issue.
