Wasted time in Zebulon last night. The organization never answered my email that I sent days ago about whether or not the shuttles were handicap accessible so we went and of course there was nowhere we could park close enough for my Mother. Just sat in traffic, wincing as we almost hit side mirrors with so many other vehicles and trying not to hit any pedestrians...it was crazy. And we never got to see a balloon. Big disappointment.

In your situation it would probably have been better just to park at the main site of the event even though it would have cost you $30. The shuttle buses were old retired school buses and seating was tight for everyone with no room for chairs, strollers, etc. Having said that, this was a free event except for parking so it is what it is but certainly things could have been better organized.
Raleigh location- yes it's crowded and disorganized, but totally worth it.
Based on my experience yesterday -
Don't take the shuttle - park on the outer southeastern corner of Triangle Town Center and walk through the new apartment complex. 10 minutes walk vs 1 hour wait for the shuttle. Or Uber it. Take in all the food and water you will need. Food lines were crazy, at least an hour. If going in the afternoon, don't get there too early. Nothing much happens until about 6pm. Take a blanket.
I went to the Raleigh location last night about 7 pm and had a great time. I actually was able to park in the new apartments right beside the Spring Forest Park. There doesn't appear to be any assigned parking spots for residents and not enough people live in the apartments for there to be much of an issue. I didn't really see much disorganization, it was just a large amount of people. I will probably go around the same time tonight to the Spring Forest location! I hope they bring this back next year!
Also, parking in the shopping center behind the mall (with Toys R Us, Target, Old Navy, etc.) might be an option as well. Probably does beat the shuttle.

So, about how long of a walk would it be if we parked at the Toys R Us parking lot?
A friend of mine is telling me that the glow at BBP would be better. She had a great time last night and paid $20 to park across the street.
