I'm looking for an amazing endocrinologist specializing in Diabetes in the Durham area. One that takes time and listens and works with you (I am allergic to many many meds so a doctor that can work with me and perservere is essential). I do not prefer the Duke system since I have had nothing but horrible experiences with them in their different departments. I would prefer someone in private practice if possible. any help would be most appreciated
I see Laura Young at UNC Diabetes. they recently moved to Meadowmont. She listens and teaches and is very smart. But she is hard to book. Good luck. The place is crawling with endocrinologists and diabetics. You'll get more responses.
No one has diabetes on here that uses a specialist? Please help
I don't come to this forum every day.
I see this one, and absolutely love her. I see her maybe every 4-6 months, and in between times, I see one of the NPs (Ann Mary Forsthoefel is outstanding. She has even called me on weekends!) They really know their diabetes over there!
Luckily, diabetics can help reverse the condition with simple dietary changes. What foods should diabetics avoid? They are likely some former favorites, such as bacon, French fries, and dairy products. A person with diabetes should stay away from processed foods, especially refined carbohydrates. For instance, pizza night should likely be canceled. Other high-glycemic-index foods diabetics should avoid include many wheat flour products, white potatoes, white rice, candy, sodas, many cereal products, and especially sugar itself. Alcohol and caffeine consumption should also be limited. Fruits high in natural sugar, such as bananas, peaches, and nectarines, should also be avoided.
Type 1 can not be reversed and has nothing to do with diet/exercise. Same can be said for some Type 2 cases. And your spammy link doesn't work. Are you local to RTP area or do you just look for keywords?
Thanks for the referrals I prefer UNC to Duke any day of the week so will def check and dont mind driving to a good doctor so Raleigh is not out of the question either
