If I understand this, you'll also need a good smartphone because you need an app for TWC tv guide. I woukd guess your smartphone also becomes your remote control for the tv.

Roku boxes and sticks come with a very easy-to-use remote that controls all of the apps/channels on it. You can also d/l a Roku app to your smartphone if you want to use it as a remote.

We use the Roku 3 for a variety of reasons. The headphone jack gets a lot of use by our kids.

Here's a helpful link to compare the Roku offerings.

Also, where is it available for $35?
Correct, I made a typo. I have a TV on the screened porch.
Wal-Mart has them quite often for $29.95, refurb, via site-to-store.
I picked up mine at a local Wal-Mart grocery store.

DealFisher via Amazon offers Prime members the refurbished Roku 3500XB 1080p Streaming Stick with Remote Control for $29.99 with free shipping. (Non-members can spend $35 to bag free shipping; otherwise, it adds $6.47.) That's $5 under our February mention and $10 below the lowest total price we could find for a new one. It connects directly to an HDMI port and features 1,000+ channels and 1080p HD quality.

A 90-day warranty is included, but it's unclear who backs it.

The TWC cable boxes and DVRs are garbage. The Roku TWC app does work pretty well, and it does give you access to on-demand stuff, but often they disable the FF function, so you are forced to watch the commercials. That's unacceptable to me, so I have to have a DVR. Instead of dealing with TWC's crappy DVR any longer, I decided to get a TiVo and have been very happy with it.
