My church's young adults group is thinking about possibly doing an event in October that's involves a bonfire/cookout/games/dance etc... (some ideas thrown out there) Any outdoor venues/parks in the area that we should look at in the Raleigh area that could possibly host such an event?

We recently camped at Camp Chestnut Ridge (they're affiliated with the Methodist Church). Great location, nice people, cabins, cookout, games, etc. They rent to all kinds of groups - scouts, schools, etc.. And their prices are reasonable. If you eat there, the food is delicious - locally grown, natural food.

Thanks! I should have specified that we're looking in the Raleigh area. We could look at something out there but it'll be hard to manage the logistics of getting stuff out there and people may be deterred from going out there if it's too far away.
City of Raleigh Parks and Rec. though realistically, you're likely looking outside city limits given the burn permit?
After that, I'd google "corporate retreats". And look up New Life Camp (north Raleigh - Durant Rd)
yeah I'm curious about the bonfire idea - what are the limits/regulations about where we can have that? Doesn't even have to be a bonfire I guess - a large fire pit would work as well.
Our church goes to the group cabins at Umstead. There is always a fire at some point in the evening....although just a simple fire pit....not really what I would call a "bonfire".

That'd probably be good enough for us. Thanks for the suggestion!
Hillridge Farms in Youngsville does this sort of thing. I believe have to pay admission to the other events which are geared more towards kids but you get a hayride and a pumpkin and when we went with our Youth Group the hayride dropped us off in a field where there were tables and a bonfire for us. It was a really nice event.
I believe Winterpast Farms in Wake Forest also will do a bonfire event. There is a website if you google it.
Go Play Outside Now would be perfect. They have a large bonfire area and lots of other outdoor activities. It is geared towards kids. No alcohol is allowed. And the owner is super sweet. We did a birthday party there and she is super accommodating about you bringing in food and making sure that everyone has a great time. They charge per person, but there are group and party rates. I think they have a website and a FB page.
