Not to discount any of the coffee mentioned here but I love Dunkin Donuts regular coffee. I buy huge bag at Costco, store in freezer. I use a Bunn machine.

Get a grinder for twenty bucks. Go to Costco or Trader Joes for beans at reasinable prices.

The trick to great coffee is to buy it whole bean and grind it at home. If you don't have a grinder most stores that sell whole bean coffee have a grinder in store that you can use. It also helps to buy fresh roasted beans. The pre-ground stuff at stores can be 6-8months old if not older. Third tip, NEVER store coffee in the fridge freezer. It will absorb odors from other objects in the freezer which will change the taste.

1.Buy fresh coffee
2.Buy it whole bean
3.grind it at home if possible, or at the store if necessary.

Doing 1-3 above will improve your coffee experience 1000x compared to old pre ground coffee.

The inexpensive grinders don't due a good job in producing a consistent grind. Most cheapies have blades that spin at high RPMs. Don't buy one of those. If you're going to get into good coffee buy a burr grinder.

One of my best kept secret: 8th Sin Coffee is a local wholesale distributor of coffee to coffee shops around Raleigh. They sell both green coffee and roasted coffee. They roast every Wednesday, and you can get the coffee still warm/1 day roasted if you come on that day - something that you can't find on other place. Their price is cheaper than other place too.

*While not exactly a coffee distributor, Grand Asia Market sells Trung Nguyen Coffee from Vietnam for $7/lb that is way better and cheaper than WF or Starbucks or Costco coffee. Trung Nguyen Coffee is the largest coffee producer in Vietnam and also make substitute chivet coffee

The suggestions about the burr grinder vs. the blade grinder are definitely correct. However, a burr grinder doesn't have to be expensive. You can get a manual one on Amazon for $20 that has a 4.5 star rating and over 1,200 reviews.

I like Community Coffee out of Louisiana. It is available at Wally World. Based on this thread I will give Larry's a try.
