There are four medical schools in NC.

Duke (Durham) , UNC (Chapel Hill) , ECU (Greenville) , and Wake Forest (Winston Salem).

There are two schools with significant engineering programs;

NC State (Raleigh) and UNC-Charlotte.

To be within 20 minutes of each in a rural area; you are basically looking at Pittsboro/Chatham County. 20ish + minutes to Chapel Hill, 20-30 minutes to Raleigh.

That's assuming those are the two schools the couple get into respectively.

Oops!

Geography-wise though; same parameters still hold for the most part.
