Following a 4-3 recommendation from the planning and zoning board to deny last month, the town council unanimously denied the rezoning request at last night's meeting. A potential high-traffic 24-hour filing station and convenience store was deemed to be a poor fit with the surrounding neighborhoods and not a compelling reason to change the proposal from the current office designation.

What a shame it was defeated...gas pumps bring in repeat business to nearby businesses. Look at Costco's use of gas pumps!

It was a terrible proposal for the site. Massive increase in traffic at an intersection that's already a hazard and with no way to mitigate it. Not to mention 24-hour operation in close proximity to residential.

I don't think gas stations typically do anything for surrounding stores. People are there to get in and out, and the included convenience store keeps people on site for their odds and ends. I'll go to a certain gas station because it's convenient to my other stops, but not vice versa.

On 11/15, one of the "surrounding stores" had two arrested for no license to massage and also prostitution.

Don’t know if there have been prior arrests, but the issue isn’t a new one at that place.

And your obsession with the county arrest records is weird.

If you are going to link to a site that gives the names and photographs of the arrestees, why is it a problem to identify the store in question?
