I stumbled across this on a news forum and went to the store to confirm.

It's a darn shame for JoAnn not to have the competition.

Everything in the store is at least 20% off. Patterns are 50% off. Some fabrics (not many) are down to 30%. Not sure when they'll drop prices again.

They are no longer honoring coupons, so in many cases you are still better off using the 40% off at JoAnn, or buying 5 patterns for $5, etc. Just don't let the 'going out of business' signs go to your head.

I had some store credit so I just HAD to buy something!

Thanks for the info!! I'll have to check it out and see if they've got good deals (the tip about comparison shopping is a great one).

Did they happen to tell you when they'd be closed for good?

Hancock Fabric went bankrupt in February. All inventory will be liquidated, and then all stores nationwide will be closed. It's a complete shut-down.

I was there last Friday looking for fabric to reupholster my dining room chairs. I had seen a nice one in there last month and was going to buy it, but it was gone. I asked, and was told that most of the "better" home decor fabrics had been "moved out of the store."

Nothing else was appealing, so I'm off to Mill Country to pick up what I selected instead.

I went two weeks ago and there are no real deals to be found. Most items are 20% off with a few items up to 50%.
