Heading to Falls Lake tomorrow. On the news, we hear about a lot of dangerous bacteria that reside in lakes, but I believe that's just in South America. Has anyone heard of anything like that happening in Falls Lake?
I apologize if this question sounds stupid.

It is OK. Beaver dam is a good swimming beach if that is what you are looking for

They do occasionally ban swimming around the swimming areas due to bacteria ...

They test the water at Falls Lake, and will certainly close the beaches if there is a problem.

You could call the ranger's office and ask what their protocol is if you are concerned.

I wouldn't swim in the lakes around here personally, but that's just me perhaps. Paddling is fine. People do swim though. It's probably fine

You're probably right. I just personally don't swim in the lakes in this area.

I don't swim in any local lakes however, they do test the water and will close it if levels are bad. Usually it's in much later in the summer when the water temps really heat up. That said, I'm headed out there today for a few days! I love the lake out there I just don't swim in it!
