Howdy all,

We'll be coming for a little visit in mid March to scout around. We've been working with a really great Realtor that we'll spend a couple days with but the rest of our time there would be used to just check out the area, take in some sights, talk to some people....just get a general feel for the area. Do any of you have any recommendations of things to do with our kids? I have a five year old and a set of 2 year old twins. I read something about the Marble Museum...are there other recommendations? Thanks much!

The museum of life and science in durham is really a great place and you can actually spend a whole day there! They do have a cafe on site, close to the butterfly house so it is a nice stopover. They are not open on mondays, but during the rest of the week they are relatively quiet (until the spring and then the school trips start, and well, it is not quite as nice to go!!!).

if it is nice outside, going to duke gardens and having a picnic is fun, or even walking around the unc campus and having a picnic is nice. There is a kids museum in chapel hill called Kidzu, which is small, but my daughters still like it.

Also, check out carolina parent magazine online, and they will have a calendar of activities going on while you are in town.

You will probably end up in the car more than you would like, so I would suggest looking up the parks in the area (you can find them listed on each towns websites, and on the raleigh parks and rec website). The parks systems are very nice around here and a great way to go a burn off some energy. Some of my favorites are kids together (southern cary), bond park, and many others!

Good luck

Leigh
