Has anyone ever gone to Convenience Court for a speeding ticket? My wife got a speeding ticket that was 15 over the posted limit (65 in a 50). She is unable to appear in court on her court date. Will she have less of a chance of appealing her ticket at Convenience Court vs had she gone on her scheduled court date?
Convenience court is what its named- convenient. She should have no problem handling it on her own. I can run you through the options if you want to PM me to make sure she's getting the optimal legal outcome.
The whole idea of "convenience court" seems odd to me. The painful court process was always one of the biggest motivators to obeying speed laws in the first place, and they're looking for ways to make the whole process more user friendly?
What's next, convenience prisons? For when you've got a rap sheet full of serious felonies, but would like to handle them without all the assaults and other inconveniences that go along with time in the slammer?
I'm not sure what jurisdiction this is, but the traffic court in Wake was created because many tickets are just fix it tickets like expired license, registration, etc or low speeding over the limit that is either plead out or dealt with by the ADA prior to the judge hearing it and it allows people to come and deal with that in a more flexible fashion than having to be there at 9 or 1:30 and sit there for hours for 2 minutes of time. You can still opt to go to a regular court if you want.
