We're newly searching too, after relocating from the west coast and some very tasty sushi options. The only one I can recommend so far is in North Raleigh:
In Durham, Kurama. Not much to look at from the outside. Avoid the hibachi tables. Try to get a seat at the sushi bar and let the chef guide your choices. If you are flush with cash, then Yamazushi for the only kaiseki dining experience in the Triangle that I know of.

Waraji is good (at least according to my wife...I'm not a huge seafood fan myself) but I wouldn't call that North Raleigh.
Offhand from my wife's recommendations, Mura in North Hills is pretty good, too.
Oh really? That's funny, I guess I must be off in my idea of North Raleigh. I'm new, so can you explain to me what it is? It's not Durham, not Cary, and has a Raleigh address... so it's Raleigh?

I do think the definition is a little nebulous. I remember hearing a few "old time" Raleigh types who fondly remembered when civilization stopped at Lynn Rd! At any rate, I'd personally call that just Raleigh.

But I look forward to reading the other suggestions, since we've only tried a few places!
I second Waraji. Many of Best of Awards and we did a sushi class with him. Amazing!
