We are heading to RTP with our 3 kids 3, 7 and 16. My husband will be work for IBM.
My girls dance competitively and we would like to be in a good neighborhood close to school, work and dance studio. Need recommendations.

There are a gazillion neighborhoods (literally) that would fit that bill. People will probably need more details to give a recommendation.

Just be aware that IBM is the king of layoff companies around here. Your husband may need a new job in 5-10 yrs.

That said, look for the dance studio that you want to join first, then find your neighborhood based on that. So many good neighborhoods!

With your husband working in RTP you have the luxury of considering a very impressive list of areas to move into. The best way to start organizing your house search is to establish a budget, define minimum requirements (e.g., number of bedrooms, bathrooms, yard size, etc.) and figure out how long of a commute your husband would consider. Once you have all of that, re-post so that the very helpful real estate professionals in this forum can lend their considerable expertise to your search.

Good luck with your planning, this can be an awesome place to live.

CC&Co in North Raleigh is great for dance (CC & Co. Dance Complex | Come Dance With Us!). If you decided to go there I'd focus your search on North Raleigh which has great schools and would be near dance with a relatively short commute for your husband. I'm sure there are other great dance studios around that I'm not as familiar with though so you're probably fine regardless. Another consideration will be how you feel about year round schools. Many of the schools in North Raleigh or other suburbs of Wake County are year round. Not all, but several. If you feel strongly one way or the other then look into that.
