What do you think that I would pay up in the areas Raliegh/Durham areas? Any other suggestions please let me know.
Go find a house for sale similar to yours on a real estate site.
Enter address here to find taxes: Real Estate Search (This is not a real estate site but it is a government site that shows taxes and other property info.)
I would guess you're paying less now than you would in Raleigh.
Net around 1K? My assessed is only $220K and I just paid almost $2900 in Durham. Cheap by NJ standards to be sure but I am having a difficult time getting my head around the fact that my tax rate is much higher than my son's who lives in Cary.
You might be close if you purchase something in the county vrs the city. When you are in the city you get to pay both which substantially increases the tax bill.

Thanks.
What county would I look in? Want to be near good medical facilities too.
You cannot get that rate in Wake, Orange, Durham or Granville County. The closest IMO would be Butner, NC which is in Granville County, just a few miles to Durham and North Raleigh.
