Going down Capital at that time of day would be fine.

What don't you like about the area? There are of course nicer places but for the $$ it's a pretty good value IMO. I have lived near the Lowe's Foods on Louisburg for 8.5 years.

If you want a nicer area look at Falls River area west of Capital. Much nicer than Louisburg but home prices are higher. If we were moving today and worked in NE Raleigh that is where I would look.

Edit: around in this area for $230k

The commute depends on where you lived, but if you live in Wake Forest on the south side or Rolesville then you don't have to get on capital to get to Triangle Town Center, you take Forestville to 401 to 540 (for 1 exit)

I can be at Triangle Town Center from my house in Heritage Wake Forest to Triangle Town Center in 15 minutes no problem. My husband works at Spring Forest and Green and it takes him about 20 minutes any time of the day if he goes the back way, less if he is off hours.

This is a great place off from Falls of Neuse. Convenient to where both of you work and near to everything. You can also stay off the main roads, other than a quick cross over on Falls of Neuse or Six Forks. There are several other homes in that area, both single family and townhomes, if you search realtor.com and look under 27615, 27609 and 27616.

I was considering Wake Forest. The issue is I get off work at 5pm and my husband needs to be at work at 6pm. We are on opposite schedules to watch our baby. I know the traffic on capital is horrible and I have heard WF to capital is also bad? We would prefer a house rather then a condo at about $200k. Anyone have any suggestions on a good area in that price range that would work with our schedules? Maybe it would be worth it to take a condo in North Raleigh just to fit our schedules? Thanks!
At that price point, I'd check some of the homes/neighborhoods on Forestville Road between Buffaloe Road and 401. It's an easy drive to your workplaces from there and you don't have to drive on Capital if you don't want to.

There are more homes on Forestville north of 401 into Wake Forest and the Heritage area, which are nicer, but I think most of those will be more than your price range. If you can bump your budget to $250-$300K then you can get a really nice home in a really nice neighborhood in that area. (But $250K minimum is probably going to be the price of entry for that area.)
